How unit charges work.
1 unit = 6 minutes = £19.50. The final fee calculated is subject to VAT, and all outlays incurred on your behalf are added to it.
1Unit charges
Any item may be charged according to the number of units. Time spent is charged in units, where 1 unit is equivalent to 6 minutes. 2Drawing
Deeds and documents drawn are charged at 5 units per sheet. A sheet is 250 words or part thereof. Pro-forma documents are charged at 3 units per sheet.
3Correspondence
Normal letters are charged at 1.25 units per page. A page is 150 words. Formal letters, or letters of a similar nature, are charged at 0.5 units.
4Telephone calls
The first 6 minutes or part of any telephone call is charged at 1 unit. Formal telephone calls are charged at 0.5 units.
5Copying
No charge is made for the first 50 copies; thereafter copies are charged at 0.02 units per copy.
6Posts and incidents
This charge covers posts, the cost of telephone calls, fax and minor outlays. It will not exceed 5% of the fee total, exclusive of VAT.
7Court time
Court time is charged at 12 units per hour, as opposed to the normal charge of 10 units per hour.
